Southern Patchwork Quilt is a mixture of short stories, flash fiction, poetry, memories, recipes and quotes. Even though the majority of this book is fiction many are written straight from my heart, and as true as our sweet Southern breeze on cool afternoons.
I started this book after watching my sister in law, Brenda Williams, show me her handmade quilts. I thought of my memories that I had written on paper and placed in a box, never attempting to do anything with them. I decided to gather them all and place them in the form of a book just as my sister in law was placing patches of cloth together to form a beautiful quilt. Before I knew it, the pages of mixed, matched stories were becoming a book. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, I will never be able to make a quilt therefore; I wanted to title my book, "Southern Patchwork Quilt."
I struggled while deciding to go off the beaten path with this book. It is very different from my other ones. I hope you will enjoy reading it while sipping sweet tea from an old quart jar, rocking in your front porch rocker and enjoying another day God has allowed you to enjoy.

Sweet, homey, cozy-blessed memories of a loving family are captured between the covers of this collection of stories, poems, recipes, flash fiction. It is an easy book to read from beginning to end in one sitting, but it becomes much more delicious if you meander a bit, sampling as you go. Ms, McManus always delivers a story that a young adult could read without being embarrassed if her grandmother caught her--not many books left for that statement to be true. However, I am in the category of grandmother , and I would love for my grands to pick up any of her books and begin to realize the importance of family and the love among generations. Southern Patchwork Quilt is lovingly pieced together from old red t-shirts to fancy Easter dresses, and the stitches are perfect.Product details

Love this book!
I love the the!e of all of these books. It is always about family and love. Phyllis is a forever friend of mine SNC I am proud of her accomplishments as a writer.
I really enjoyed reading this book! It felt like I was having a heart-to-heart conversation with a good friend, while sitting together on my back porch and sipping on my iced coffee, enjoying the warmth of an afternoon in the South. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone and give it 5 stars.
My mother has really enjoyed this book as well as all the others by this author. She is now eagerly waiting for her next publication.
I found myself wondering was the author somehow writing some of the stories about my childhood. A book that takes you back to the days of love from grandma, and picking blackberries. Playing with cousins, shared recipes and kids being kids. Nice journey.
I love Phyllis McManus’s writing style. This collection of stories and poetry was a joy to read. I could feel the love Ms. McManus has for her southern heritage. Heartwarming stories with a message.
Read this book today in a few hours straight through because I loved it. It is my favorite one from this author so far. Brought back some memories of my own. The best part, the part I fell in love with, are the stories up front, but I also enjoyed the poetry, and flash fiction. Amazing stories that will take you back to a simpler time in life. You can hear the birds singing, see the sunshine, feel it on your face, feel for the characters, laugh and even shed a few tears. A beautiful, touching book of southern stories. Evokes reader emotions.
